DEA Training Requirement

The DEA has announced a new training requirement related to Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).The law now requires all DEA-registered practitioners, including anesthesiologists, to complete a one-time 8-hour training requirement. Physicians will be asked to simply check a box on their DEA registration application or renewal form indicating that they have satisfied this training requirement, effective June 27, 2023. Previous courses/CME addressing substance use disorder treatment and management obtained before December 29, 2022 count toward this training requirement.
